Business Operations Internship, Fall 2024 (Based in Washington, DC)

What you get to do:
The Finance and People & Culture Intern will support the Finance and People & Culture departments in various tasks and projects, providing valuable hands-on experience in these key business areas. This role is ideal for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is eager to gain practical experience in financial analysis, reporting, People Ops, and organizational management. This internship will provide you with exposure to a dynamic workplace environment and the chance to develop essential skills for a career in Finance and/or People & Culture.
A work laptop will be provided to you to protect sensitive information. Duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Assisting with accounting journal entries, accounts payables, and payroll;
- Assisting with developing systems and tools related to financial grants or financial project management;
- Updating budget tracking tools;
- Maintenance of clean, organized work areas
- Perform general office duties such as filing, data entry, and document management.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Finance and People + Culture teams.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Conduct financial data entry and verification.
- Help with accounts payable and receivable processes.
Who you are:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience in numbers and good math skills are essential
- Experience with data entry programs such as Process Review, General Ledger, Project Setup, Closeout, and other sub-functions
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Experience in Google Docs, Google Slides, and Google Sheets is a must
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is a must
- Experience with Zoom and other online conferencing tools
- Professional phone etiquette and customer service skills
- Interest in a career in finance management or people & culture
- Well-organized with an eye for detail
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Ability to work well under minimal supervision
- Ability to work on multiple projects at one time in an efficient manner
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Available to work overtime and weekends
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
COMPENSATION
This is a paid, part-time internship with the opportunity to pick up more hours outside business hours and on the weekends—$ 18 per hour.
