Job Description

Riceland Foods is hiring a Director of Production at our Stuttgart Rice Division. The incumbent is responsible for following up on actual production of two regular mills, parboil mill, parboil plant and compare to scheduled production from sales.

 

 

 

Job Duties

Inventory Management

 

     1.   Assure bulk rice inventory is current and accurate

 

      2.  Assure that ERP and physical inventories match and are current.

 

      3.  Assure that physical inventories are taken timely and accurately.

 

      4.  Hold warehouseman license for SRD.

 

      5.  Oversee all bulk scale certifications for SRD.

 

      6.  Oversee all check-weight procedures and documentation for SRD.

 

      7.  Oversee all production order output reporting and materials management in ERP.

 

      8.  Oversee and approve rough and bulk clean rice inventory adjustments.

 

      9.  Use clean rice stock record and other data tools to track, verify, and correct production,

            consumption, and inventory adjustments.

 

     10.  Participate with, provide support to, and officially represent SRD to all 3rd party

            inventory auditors.

 

   11.  Work closely with in-house accountants to assure correct valuation and reporting

          of inventories to corporate office.

 

Production Scheduling

 

     1.  Select appropriate rough rice from drier locations/lots for particular milling needs.

   

     2.  Assure that rough and clean rice is binned correctly and is available for use when

          needed.

 

     3.  Assure that mill production scheduling is done to meet appropriate specs and ship dates.

 

     4.  Assure that mill production scheduling is done in a way to minimize changeovers.

 

     5.  Maintain sufficient inventories of rough rice and clean rice in house according to

           current business needs.

 

      6.  Track rework/remill as it is relieved.

 

       7.  Track rework/remill as it is created.

 

       8.  Assure that off-quality, rework, remill, and other types/varieties are moved into

            production.

 

       9.  Work closely with Operations Managers to assure schedules/plans are being followed

             with regard to timing, production rates, and specifications.

 

      10.  Work closely with Production Services to minimize schedule interruptions and

              optimize production run sizes.

 

      11.  Work closely with Commodity Operations to schedule rough rice receiving with

              regard to timing, quality, and quantity.

 

      12.  Primary accountability for SRD’s production budget and support for operating budget.

 

Other

 

        1.  Serve as senior staff member to SRD.

 

        2.  Supervise the production office personnel.

 

        3.  Direct Section F personnel and operations.

 

        4.  Serve as division contact for FGIS and oversee FGIS needs and performance.

 

 

 

 

Budget Responsibility:                $ 3.9MM Annual dollars

Facilities and Equipment Responsibility:        $ 8.4MM Total value

 

SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises three subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 48 employees in the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university and four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and a minimum of four years of management experience.
