K-8th Grade Principal
This position plans, directs, and coordinates the academic administration of instructional and support staff to ensure the best possible opportunities for student growth and development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Enforce discipline and attendance rules.
- Confer with parents and staff to discuss educational activities, policies, and student behavioral or learning problems.
- Observe teachers in classrooms and examine materials to evaluate curriculum and teaching techniques, and to determine areas where improvement is needed.
- Collaborate with instructional staff to develop and maintain curriculum standards and set performance goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with the director and financial staff to develop annual budget needs.
- Recommend and implement changes which will lead to improved administration, supervision and opportunity for student development.
- Plan and lead professional development activities for teachers, administrators and support staff.
- Coordinate and direct extracurricular activities and programs.
- Actively participate and encourage staff participation in parent-teacher and other community groups to develop understanding, cooperation, and respect for school objectives and endeavors.
- Maintain compliance with state, federal, and local laws.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate instructional staff.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
- Model effective, differentiated instruction.
- Encourage ongoing professional growth.
- Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
- Provide encouragement and emotional support to instructional staff.
- Participate in Network and Board meetings.
- Participate in appropriate professional activities.
- Other duties assigned.
