Student Advocate
Salary:
- $65,574-$88,306
- Plus a $2000 Retention Payment to be paid in October 2024
Work Duration:
- 200 Days
- 7.5 hours / day
Responsibilities:
Serves as the advocate for students within the adult structure of the school and community, including but not limited to:
- Conduct monthly attendance reports and coordinate with teachers, school nurses, guidance counselors and principals regarding those with frequent absences and tardiness; then counsels students and their parents/guardian with attendance problems
- Initiate petitions to juvenile court by preparing cases for formal hearings and attend family court when cases are presented, using the services of the school district attorney when appropriate
- Participate in case conferences, individual or group counseling sessions whenever requested by a member of administration
- Provide immediate service to students who are on the street or in public places
- Visit places where students are employed to investigate legal absences and lawful working conditions
Certification / Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field WITH at least three (3) years experience PREFERRED
- Must be able to travel between and among various student residences, schools, school board buildings, community and court buildings
- Ability to serve as a liaison between the school and court systems
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders
