Graduate Administrative Assistant - Campus Recreation

The Graduate Assistant of Campus Recreation reports directly to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation. 

COMPENSATION: $17.55 per hour, 8 credits of tuition/semester, plus 3 meal swipes a week; 20 hours/week
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the coordination of staff interviews, hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of Rec Sports facility/programming student staff
  • Communicate with members on all aspects of usage policies and program offerings
  • Provide evening and weekend operational support during open recreation hours as needed (Saturday 9am-4pm and Sunday 11am-9pm).
  • Manage student employee recognition program and coordination of inservice training
  • Ordering of supplies/equipment/facilitating repairs and maintenance 
  • Maintain a level of knowledge about facility software and area functionality
  • Assist with employee scheduling in the management system along with problem solving vacancies
  • Be knowledgeable of and provide information on all department facilities, programs, and services
  • Actively participate in staff meetings and staff development activities within the department
  • Assist in coverage of university resource fairs or any other type of outreach by the department
  • Perform other duties as assigned 
     

Specific Qualifications:

Candidates must have 1-4 years experience in Campus Recreation or similar health and wellness environments. Priority will be given to those applicants who have experience working in aquatics facilities, departmental operations, staffing and student development. Ability to work independently on tasks and projects. Be detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills. Display effective communication skills to engage with faculty, staff, students and community members. 

Candidates should have aspirations toward a career in Campus Recreation or related field.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from a 4 year institution.

Possess First Aid, CPR and AED certification or ability to obtain within the first 30 days of the position. 
Lifeguard Certification or ability to become lifeguard certified upon hire.
Anticipated Start Date: August 2024
