Junior Accountant (Accounting, Analyst)

Summary

The MIL Corporation is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant (Accounting, Analyst) to join our team supporting a Federal client. The Junior Accountant will play a vital role in financial operations by assisting with internal audits, preparing and reconciling ledgers, and assisting with the preparation of financial statements. The position is contingent upon award. 

This position currently requires an on-site schedule with the possibility for a hybrid telework arrangement. Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with internal audits and ensuring compliance with internal and external audit requirements
  • Preparing and reconciling ledgers to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
  • Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and reports
  • Providing strategic guidance on managerial accounting issues to support decision-making
  • Solving complex accounting and financial problems with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Preparing journal entries accurately and in a timely manner
  • Performing analysis of data entry and payment processing to identify discrepancies and errors
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency
  • Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, as needed

Travel

Up to 15% annually, as needed

Required Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in accounting, with demonstrated knowledge of accounting theories, account reconciliation, and financial analysis
  • Federal financial management experience
  • Familiarity with Momentum-based accounting systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desired Qualifications

Prior or current experience executing such activities of this role with the DOJ, any of its components, or other law enforcement agencies

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

Clearance

Willingness to undergo a Public Trust background investigation.

Salary at MIL is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, and contractual limitations. For this position, the projected compensation range is $52,620-$81,930  per year.
