Purpose of the position

Kalmar USA, Inc. (Ottawa, KS) is seeking a Manager, Solutions and Professional Services. This individual will hold full leadership, profit and loss, and personnel management responsibility for the Kalmar Automation Solutions, Professional Services Group which services to major maritime port and container terminal operators throughout North America, as well as globally to assist them with the highly-complex process of upgrading their cargo handling capabilities with the latest automation and electric vehicle capabilities.

 

Main tasks and Responsibilities:

Responsible to provide professional project management responsibilities over this team of project professionals will include; carefully monitoring senior consultant professional services activities at all times and to oversee them in their efforts to develop new assignments customers; maintain a high-level of customer satisfaction to ensure repeat business; promote the types and scope of services that the Group is able to provide in order to capture all available professional project consulting and management services work from customers; develop new business leads, and develop additional professional skills and services to provide to customers.

 

Ensuring professional service project budgets are within +/- 10% and, when necessary, providing strategic direction and management to the members of the Project Services Group to steer projects back within acceptable limits. Ensuring the delivery of timely, reliable and World-Class quality automation conversion and upgrade project consulting and management services are being delivered to customers by closely monitoring critiquing, guiding and (when necessary) correcting all professional services being provided by the Professional Services Group.

 

Will also be responsible for developing, leading, and managing the preparation, delivery and completion of Kalmar process automation solutions projects as well as to provide strategic leadership and guidance to both internal and external project stakeholders in the resolution of complex logistical, technical, functional, and operational problems encountered when executing large-scale global projects involving the delivery, installation, commissioning and hand-over of Cargotec Corporation’s Kalmar Solutions terminal automation solutions from start to finish.

 

Position may be performed from anywhere in U.S. and is classified as a Remote position. Extensive domestic (60%) and international (40%) travel required.

 

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Bachelors degree in field of Marine, Automation, or Computer Engineering

 

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in the development and validation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the development of automation solutions projects at intermodal container terminals.

 

  • Experience must have included development of SOPs for Gate Operating Systems (GOS) and their integration with freight Position Detection Systems (PDS), other subsystems for the landside operational areas of terminals, and a Terminal Operating System (TOS)

 

  • Development and integration of SOPs for landside terminal operational areas, including Customs House Brokers (CHB), Automated Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (ARMG), Reefer Containers, Landside Transfer Zone, Container Freight Station, and Equipment Interchange Receipt; and the integration of a Terminal Operating System (TOS) with PDS, GOS, and other solutions used to control and manage the flow of intermodal freight containers at a terminal.

 

  • Also requires at least one additional year of experience with overseeing or managing each stage of the project lifecycle for automation solutions projects at intermodal container terminals, including project cost estimation, automation system hardware and software commissioning (installation, configuration, fine tuning), go-live and closure.

Monday through Friday; 40 hours per week; 9:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m.; $135,262 to $140,000 annually.
