Duties
The primary duties of this position are:
- Oversees the development and maintenance of clearinghouse for RASC and E-Draws, including documentation of geospatial data following appropriate standards for that data.
- Oversees and maintains the Regional geospatial data clearinghouse.
- Identifies resources and funding necessary for developing and maintaining the clearinghouse, coordinates with other organizations involved in E-draws, and provides outreach to Reclamation staff, other organizations, and the public.
- Establishes procedures, with the assistance of the Regional Surveyor, for documenting all geospatial survey and mapping data using the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) Content Standard.
- Provides training and assistance to Regional staff in applying these standards in documenting geospatial data.
- Develops, in collaboration with other AutoCAD/GIS professionals, geospatial data administration guidance, quality control procedures, and quality assurance actions required to support data and metadata collection efforts and ensure related legal and data standards compliance.
- Catalogues geospatial data and other corporate databases (e.g., engineering drawings, topography, orthophotos, geologic mapping, etc.), identifying archival methods and storage locations of this data.
- Serves as a key participant in the development, analysis, use, and evaluation of management plans, relational data bases, and computer modeling associated with the operation and maintenance (O&M) activities.
- Researches published studies on broad and/or complex subject areas related to the Region's water service activities, synthesizes data to correlate relationships to specialized fields, such as hydrology, geography, property boundaries, and engineering.
- Performs as a technical specialist in any one or a combination of the engineering, physical, biological, or natural resource sciences.
- Serves as a member of interagency scientific working groups responsible for developing and implementing data management systems and data exchanges associated with multi-agency management needs.
