Environmental Technician

Job Summary:

The Environmental Technician is responsible for the success of projects and assignments in his or her area of responsibility. The incumbent will assist team members in field assessments, testing and data collection to help determine the effects of human activity on the environment.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist other staff in completing soils related environmental field assessments
  • Collect and process environmental field data
  • Prepare project mapping as directed by environmental team leader
  • Assist in preparation of reports, permits and other technical documents
  • Become knowledgeable of current environmental regulations in geographic area of responsibility
  • Become familiar with environmental sampling protocols and habitat assessment methods
  • Actively participate in client development activities as directed by manager

 Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Intermediate level of AutoCAD and other design software
  • Experience with geographic information systems and other discipline specific computer modeling programs required
  • Ability to think independently and as part of a project team
  • Ability to interact with clients, and regulatory agencies in a professional manner
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Valid Virginia drivers license and a satisfactory driving record

 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science or a related field
