PLC Programmer

Blue Wave Semiconductors, Inc. is a high technology company that manufactures advanced thin film and nanomaterial coating systems and conducts cutting edge semiconductor materials research. It is located at the UMBC Technology Center-South Campus (5-minute drive from UMBC campus and near BWI Airport) in Halethorpe, MD.  The Company’s equipment products include vacuum technology (vacuum chambers, pumps, valves, temperature controllers, pressure controllers, gas flow meters, lasers, electron beam etc.).

Blue Wave is seeking full-time or part-time entry level or intern engineering team members (Full time over school breaks breaks) for PLC programing and automation of its electro-mechanical system components. A complete training will be provided. However, candidates must have basic skills to build small prototypes and must have some knowledge of programming and an understanding of logic gates.

Entry Level PLC programmer / Technical Staff

Qualifications:

1. Must be a U.S. citizen or a green card holder.

2. Must be a recent graduate or at least a sophomore pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Computer, or other Engineering disciplines.

3. Should have a background in basic computer and programming, including understanding logic gates.

4. Basic knowledge of electrical circuits is required.

5. Hands-on technical skills, particularly in mechanical and electrical areas, with experience in developing prototypes and designing parts using CAD software (preferred but not mandatory).

6. Willingness to learn is essential.

7. Must be capable of multitasking effectively. Must have hands-on or technical skills, mechanical and technical skills in making or developing prototypes. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, test, and customize PLC programs to automate processes for both in-house and official product uses. (Training will be provided)
  2. Advance instrumentation and automation, including computer communication with instruments.
  3. Perform equipment tests and create manuals and operating procedures.
  4. Collaborate with a team of engineers to build and improve products. Assist staff in testing and quality control of parts and create manuals and operating procedures.

Experience: No experience required. However, the candidate must demonstrate some hands-on skills in programming, an understanding of ladder logic, system control and or electronic/ or any software development and electromechanical instrumentation and control. Candidate is also expected to perform result-oriented job functions in a timely manner and work in a team environment. 

***Training will be provided.

Salary: Depending upon skills and will be discussed during the interview.

Note: Position immediate to start. This is not a remote position and will require on-site presence. Advance training related to Blue Wave parts development will be provided.
