University Chapter President (Volunteer)

Purpose of the Job:

The University Chapter President will be instrumental in establishing, developing, and leading a new chapter of Inspired 2 Uplift at a university or college campus. This role is aimed at spreading the mission of I2U, which focuses on bridging the gap between students with and without disabilities and fostering inclusivity.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and Lead the Chapter: Initiate the setup of the university chapter, recruit and manage a team of volunteers, and lead the chapter towards achieving its goals.
  • Program Development and Execution: Develop and execute programs that align with I2U’s mission, such as awareness campaigns, workshops, a buddy program, fundraising events, etc.
  • Collaboration and Networking: Collaborate with university administration, other student organizations, and external stakeholders to promote and integrate I2U’s activities within the campus community.
  • Advocacy and Awareness: Act as a key spokesperson for disability awareness on campus, leading initiatives that challenge stereotypes and promote a deeper understanding of disability issues.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor the progress of the chapter’s activities and report achievements and challenges to the Director of Chapter Affairs regularly.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a university or college.
  • Strong leadership skills and previous experience in a leadership role (preferred).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Passion for social change and advocacy for disability rights.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Flexible hours, with a commitment of approximately 5-7 hours per week.
  • Work will primarily be conducted on campus with some activities potentially taking place off-campus.
