CDAE Career Peer Mentor

Consider applying to be a Career Peer Educator, where you will be helping fellow Dolphins by supplying career-related guidance and supporting campus efforts to expand job-readiness among students.
About CDAE:
The Career Center is located in Bell Tower 1548. The Career Center assists students, faculty, staff, alumni, and employers with their career planning needs. Resources available in the center include online on and off-campus job and internship postings, career research materials and self-assessment programs. Career Peer Educators are available in the center and throughout various areas on campus, and during off campus events to provide peer-to-peer mentoring and support related to career development.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide 10–15-minute drop-in career advising and support to students and alumni.
- Assist students and alumni in career exploration and the career development process.
- Help students better understand the tools/resources related to the career decision-making and career-planning process.
- Teach and advise students on basic and advanced job search strategies.
- Develop and facilitate career presentations to classes and student groups.
- Participate and assist with CDAE events and programming.
- Create handouts, flyers, and resources for CDAE.
- Assist career counseling and coaching team and other staff in the office.
- Greet incoming visitors, give tours of the Career Center, and direct visitors to appropriate resources.
- Provide phone and desk reception and perform regular space maintenance.
- Ensure that the Career Center remains accessible, welcoming, and professional.
- Write articles and post to social media platforms about career advice, events, and programming.
- Create newsletters, flyers, and handouts.
- Research issues and topics related to career/professional development.
- Serve as a role model and leader on campus.
- Other administrative tasks as assigned.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be in good academic and behavioral standing with the university, and must hold and maintain a cumulative CI GPA and semester GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Must be able to work in-person during the career center operational hours.
- Desire to provide mentoring and advice to diverse student populations.
- Must be dependable and punctual.
- Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with a variety of people.
- Must be able to work independently and on a team.
- Adapt and respond to the fast-paced nature of career programming.
- Resourcefulness to acquire ideas for programming as well as assessment.
- Participate in mandatory weekly meetings during the academic year.
Willingness to:
- Develop skills in Computer Applications and Software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PPT), Handshake, Zoom, Canva, & Social Media Platforms.
- Encourage an environment of teamwork and collaboration.
- Maintain a neat appearance and appropriate professional dress.
- Be flexible with your schedule.
