Job Description/Responsibilities:

Openings in ELA, Science, and Math

English Language Arts: The Middle School ELA Teacher teaches reading and writing skills while fostering students' confidence and passion in literacy. This teacher utilizes the school's research-based curriculum and teaching techniques which are designed for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and other language-based learning differences. While addressing deficiencies in decoding, fluency, spelling, and mechanics, the teacher also opens the door to purposeful and motivating experiences in reading and writing, helping students with a history of struggles become passionate readers and authors. 

Science: The Middle School Science Teacher teaches science – either grade 6 Earth Science, grade 7 Physical Science, or grade 8 Life Science – through engaging, hands-on activities and thoughtfully crafted lessons. This teacher utilizes specialized de Paul School methodologies to captivate and inspire students with learning differences and executive function deficits, enabling them to reach their potential. Depending upon the teacher’s skillset, the science teacher may also teach a class in another subject area such as English Language Arts or Social Emotional Learning.

Mathematics: The Middle School Math Teacher teaches mathematics – from whole number concepts and operations to pre-algebra – through engaging, hands-on activities and practice-rich lessons. This teacher utilizes specialized de Paul School methodologies to captivate and inspire students with learning differences and executive function deficits, enabling them to reach their potential. In addition to several math classes, this instructor also teaches either Social-Emotional Learning classes or English Language Arts through the school’s research-based curriculum and pedagogy. 

In addition to instructional duties (evaluating, planning, teaching), responsibilities include working closely with families, collaborating daily with colleagues, and promoting public awareness of our school and the needs of students with learning differences.

Qualifications:

We provide extensive training and mentoring in our unique curriculum and pedagogy. We seek candidates who already have a solid foundation in instructional skills, rapport building, and professionalism.
