About you and this role - What you would do in this role

 

This role performs routine chemical operator tasks, including chemical transfers, monitoring process equipment, sampling product and troubleshooting and performing minor maintenance on equipment. Utilize chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience to operate and troubleshoot technical equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Perform chemical transfers safely. Perform minor maintenance tasks as required to keep processes operating. Monitor and control the unit via the computer system. Must be able to make safe and educated decisions in the event of a process upset. Participate in all safety programs and required training; demonstrate behaviors with a clear safety focus for all employees and the community; engage in all plant initiatives, identify near miss incidents.

 

Additionally, successful candidates will demonstrate Dow's global competencies and utilize Applied Process Technology (APT) chemical manufacturing to operate the plant in a safe and optimal manner.

 

Responsibilities - Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role.

  • Utilize chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience to operate and troubleshoot technical equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Set-up, tear-down and install hardware utilizing appropriate operating disciplines.
  • Interpret test data and adjust process conditions as needed.
  • Perform chemical transfers safely.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks as required to keep processes operating.
  • Understand the key process variables which impact product quality and consistency and understand how to control and troubleshoot them.
  • Monitor and control the unit via the computer system. Must be able to make safe and educated decisions in the event of a process upset.
  • Be able to guide and direct others via the radio system.
  • Participate in all safety programs and required training; demonstrate behaviors with a clear safety focus for all employees and the community; engage in all plant initiatives, identify near miss incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures covering safety regulations.

 
*The person in this role will work a 12 hour rotating shift.*


  Qualifications -  Required education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves).

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 or more years of experience working in an industrial environment in an operations, maintenance, and/or logistics role.
  • Willing and able to participate on the Emergency Response Team.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

 

Preferred Skills - An expanded list of qualifications that are "nice to have", but not essential.

  • Bridge Valley Process Technology degree.
  • Previous Operator experience in a Chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

 

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
  • Stand 50% of the time.
  • Walk for extended periods of time
  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
  • Work in tight and closed in spaces.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to full face respirator.
