Office of the President Student Assistant
Purpose of Position:
Provide general office support functions to the Office of the President at CSU Channel Islands starting in Fall 2024.
Job Responsibilities:
Serve as receptionist and provide clerical support to the staff in the Office of the President. This position requires a friendly and helpful disposition along with a professional appearance, telephone manner, and excellent customer service skills in order to assist and direct students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors. Answers the main phoneline for the office and assists or refers callers as appropriate. Greets and directs visitors, community members, students, faculty, and staff.
Performs opening and closing duties for the Office of the President, including opening offices, setting up conference rooms, light cleaning, etc. Performs word processing and data entry, copying, and filing; sorts and processes mail and newspapers; schedules and prepares for meetings and events; prepares documents and other items for shipment; sends and receives campus deliveries; prepares information packets; runs errands on campus; assists in maintaining the cleanliness of Rush Hall and the Office of the President suite; and various other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Candidate must be a current CI student in good standing with the university and able to regularly work at least 10 hours a week.
Candidates should have general office work experience (previous campus office experience a plus) and the ability to deal with the general public. Familiarity with PC computers, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to complete the CI Driver Program and drive a campus golf cart. Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills, accurate and precise work habits, and the ability to work with diverse populations of students, faculty, staff, and the broader community. Candidates must be able to perform duties with minimal supervision and must be trustworthy and reliable in the handling of confidential materials.
