Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) is a government program and branch of AmeriCorps that places volunteers in nonprofit community organizations where they will complete capacity building projects over the course of one year with the goal of reducing and eliminating poverty in the United States.

AmeriCorps mission is “to strengthen communities and develop leaders through direct, team-based direct national and community service.”

 

The Program Development VISTA will focus on providing pathways to development opportunities including establishing health clinics, driving simulator lessons, and creating/refining volunteer training within the development department. This VISTA will help to support and reinforce the development work being done by volunteers and interns. Through this program, the VISTA will address issues related to development gaps for refugee students and adults including issues such as transportation, health, language and financial barriers. This position is located in Columbia Missouri.

 

Member Duties : The VISTA member will work to develop the Health Clinic program, Driving Lesson program, and Volunteer Assistance program. They will research and learn about existing programming, work with staff to develop solutions to improve effectiveness of existing programming, and train staff on implementation of these new techniques.
