Microbiology Knowledge Graph Research Intern
Honor Education is seeking Research Interns for Summer 2024 to help build knowledge graphs for OpenStax textbooks.
Research Interns will work under the guidance of a Research Community Lead, an instructor in the field of Biology or Microbiology. They will work collaboratively with other student interns to build a knowledge graph using the 1Cademy platform.
Qualifications
- Required: Taken a Biology or Microbiology course within the past 4 years and received an “A”
- Preferred: Taken a course that used one of the OpenStax textbooks
Expectations
- Work 15 hours a week
- Attend and present at weekly meetings
- Gain 1000 points on 1Cademy
Responsibilities
- Collaborative Development: Work collaboratively with community members under the guidance of an instructor or textbook author to develop a comprehensive knowledge graph.
- Weekly Meetings: Participate in weekly online meetings to present your work, share insights, and receive feedback.
- Time Commitment: Dedicate 15 hours per week to the development and enhancement of the knowledge graph.
- Platform Utilization: Utilize the 1Cademy platform to effectively organize and manage knowledge content.
- Remote Work: Perform all tasks, interactions, and communications remotely, ensuring timely and effective completion of responsibilities.
Compensation: $1,500
Timeline
- Wednesday, June 3: Application due
- Friday, June 7: Student application notification
- Monday, June 10: Project kick off
- Friday, August 2: Project conclusion
