Student Trainee (Biological Sciences)

As a Student Trainee (Biological Sciences), you will receive on-the-job and formal training to provide experience in the operation and familiarization with biological science programs, policies, and procedures, and an opportunity to perform progressively more responsible assignments as experience is gained.
 

In order to be eligible to receive consideration for this position, you must be able to: (1) report to the duty station location listed in this vacancy announcement, if selected; and (2) be available to work the schedule identified.

The ZT-2 is equivalent to the GS-5/6. This position has no promotion potential.

This position is not in the bargaining unit.

The Intern NTE must:- Be accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree or certificate in a qualifying educational institution on at least half-time basis as determined by the educational institution;- Meet the definition of a student throughout the duration of their appointments;- Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the agency's Participant Agreement with the Intern and;- Meet the qualification standards (e.g., series and grade) for the position.

Applicants must demonstrate proof of enrollment for the Term Fall/Winter of 2023/2024 by submitting an official proof of enrollment letter from a qualifying educational institution or a transcript indicating courses to be taken in the Term Fall/Winter of 2023/2024. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

This position is being recruited with an opportunity for non-competitive conversion eligibility to a permanent OR term position in the competitive service upon completion of all program requirements. Conversion is not mandatory nor guaranteed (see Other Information).This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). This system replaced the Federal GS pay plan and structure. Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band. The ZT-2 is equivalent to the GS-5/6. This position has no promotion potential.
