Badge-in-a-Box Curriculum Development Internship

Girl Scouts of WI Badgerland Council Badge-in-a-Box Curriculum Development Internship

Girl Scouts of WI Badgerland

This position qualifies for the Madison College WolfPack PAID Program.  Madison College students selected for the position, who also qualify for WolfPack PAID, may be eligible for a compensation rate of $15.00/hour funded by the Wolfpack PAID program.

Every Girl Scout has their own curiosity, dreams, and talents—so when they come together to decide which of the thousands of Girl Scout activities to try, the sky’s the limit. Whether visiting an animal shelter, camping, hosting a dance-off, or filming a movie—they’re learning to take risks, trust their gut, and team up with others for good.

The Four Pillars of Girl Scouts

1. Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM): With a focus on high-quality programs in engineering, computer science, and outdoor STEM, girls become increasingly interested, confident, and competent in STEM subjects.

2. Outdoors: Through progressive outdoor programs for girls of all ages, girls experience nature, build skills, and take action in their communities as environmental stewards.

3. Life Skills: By partaking in life skills programming, girls enhance the academic skills they learn in school through topics such as civic engagement, healthy living, communication skills, financial literacy, and global citizenship.

4. Entrepreneurship- Starting with the iconic Girl Scout Cookie Program, this pillar explores ways in which girls can change the world by learning business skills and provides them with a variety of entrepreneurship opportunities, including social entrepreneurship.

Badge-in-a-Box Curriculum Development Summer Volunteer Role

We are developing teams of volunteers to research, design, and create hands-on activity kits (Badge-in-a-box).

Local troop leaders will then check out the Badge-in-a-box kits from our resource center and implement them in guiding their Girl Scouts towards earning badges.

Volunteers will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively alongside the Education Team to help plan Girl Scout programs and even work at those programs if schedules allow (many programs are held on weekends).

Compensation

This is an unpaid volunteer position. This position also qualifies for the Madison College WolfPack PAID Program, however. Madison College students selected for the position, who also qualify for WolfPack PAID, may be eligible for a compensation rate of $15.00/hour funded by the Wolfpack PAID program.

Qualifications

This opportunity is great for college students studying Education, Psychology, Youth Development, or a related field.

In addition, this would be a great opportunity for students studying a field related to one of the above four pillars.
