Position Overview:
RWDI is seeking a Building Enclosure Consultant to join our team in our Philadelphia office. This team’s current and active project portfolio is diverse and exciting. We deliver valuable insights on the maintenance and enhancement of existing structures and support the development of new buildings – from early design stages through to on-site installation guidance and performance verification. We help clients tackle complex challenges in the built environment by combining innovative thinking, collaborative problem solving, and a passion for expanding the boundaries of the possible.
The successful candidate will have at least 1- 3 years of experience in enclosure consulting, architecture, engineering, construction management, or related field. This is considered a junior to intermediate level position assisting and working under the supervision of more senior consultants.
This role includes but is not limited to:
- Observe construction and installation of building enclosure systems in the field, including review of mockups and observation of quality assurance testing.
- Conduct assessments of existing building enclosures.
- Draft details for the building enclosure (AutoCAD and Revit).
- Review enclosure details and specifications prepared by our clients.
- Assist clients with system selection for building enclosure.
- Research building codes and industry standards
- Research enclosure systems and products for performance, compatibility, and durability.
- Local travel required. Occasional overnight travel required
- Physical aspects of job - climb ladders and stairs
We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:
- 1-3 years’ experience in building enclosure design, review, and assessments
- A minimum of an Undergraduate Degree in architecture, engineering, or related field.
- Basic understanding of building science and how the building enclosure controls heat, air, and water.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts in straight-forward language
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Other desirable skills and experience:
- Familiarity with early to mid-20th century buildings
- Familiarity with building performance modeling software
- Familiarity with energy code
- Familiarity with building commissioning
- Construction or construction management
