Mandarin Chinese Translator and Interpreter

WorldWide Language Resources is actively seeking talented Mandarin Chinese Translators and Interpreters.

We are preparing for a short-term project on Ft. Grayling Michigan from 18 July to 27 August. Where your language skills will be used in support of a joint military exercise supporting US and foreign service members. The working conditions are going to be a combination of classroom instruction and outdoor training sessions. There will be a few days when the work environment will be austere while supporting the Military during the Field Training Exercise.

The following is likely to be a 14–17-day period of austere conditions in the middle of the project when you will be working side by side and living with the military during the Field Training Exercise.

  • Training in an outdoor environment.
  • While working closely with the military, you may have limited access to showers and laundry.
  • Sleeping in an outdoor environment on the ground with sleeping bags. This will be with the military.
  • Meals will include prepackaged food (MRE) Meals Ready to Eat.  There will be no specific diet accommodations available.

The rest of the time may be within lodging on Ft. Grayling with the military.

You may have limited access to anything outside of Ft. Grayling. During the exercise we will have a project management team on site with you to ensure your needs are met and if any emergencies were to arise.

Here are the current requirements for the position.

  1. Must be a US citizen and eligible to work within the US.
  2. Must pass a basic background check and interview.
  3. Willing to accept the austere conditions of the event.
  4. Willing to take a DOT physical for the event.
  5. Willing to validate your Mandarin and English language skills via third party assessment.
  6. Willing to accept a pay range of $31 – $33 an hour, plus overtime for time over 40 hours a week.

This is a great way to gain some experience working as a simultaneous interpreter.

Are you looking to use the skills you already possess in support of the US Military?
