Accounting Assistant
Spherion is seeking an Accounting Assistant for our client in Atlantic Highlands, NJ.
This is a temp to perm assignment that will start off as part time and go into full time.
The pay range is $17-$23/hr
The Accounting Assistant is responsible for assisting the Controller in inputting and reconciling accounting transactions. When processing accounting data, the assistant will complete various tasks & report to the Controller to ensure accounts payable and job cost are accurate & up to date.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Initiate weekly payments for payroll taxes, 401k contributions and Workers Compensation.
2. Reconcile monthly sales & use tax payable. Prepare supporting documentation for Controller review.
3. Reconcile all credit card transactions/statements, post all vendor invoices
4. Reconcile vender PO’s & populate standard lien waivers for vendor signature and process lien waivers for payment
5. When required, fill out vendor credit applications using company data
6. Assist controller with preparing quarterly payroll reports & yearly 1099s & W2s
7. Monitor “On Hold” and “Rejected” Invoices & follow up with project management regarding payable status changes
8. Monitor open retainage balances due & follow up with Project Management regarding job completion status
9. Assist controller in compiling data for weekly Flash Report
10. Compile tax exemption forms (ST13) and provide to vendors as needed
11. Maintain up to date vendor records: W9, Certificates of Insurance, Business Registrations
12. Assist other office staff with miscellaneous accounting tasks

Minimum education requirement: Associate Degree in Accounting or HS Degree with Equivalent Field Experience
