SMLR Mentorship Program (Fall 2024 - Spring 2025)
*Please note, this is an application to be a student mentee participant in the SMLR Mentorship Program. This is not an application for a volunteer position or part-time job.*
What is the SMLR Mentorship Program?
The SMLR Mentorship Program is designed to help connect SMLR students with alumni mentors who are professionals in Human Resources, Labor Relations, and related fields. Mentors share industry knowledge, foster the development and enhancement of career readiness skills, and promote the building of mentee professional networks.
Program Goals
- Leverage the expertise of successful alumni to the benefit of current SMLR students
- Provide students with practical advice on how to approach their individual career objectives
- Complement the Rutgers experience with an eye towards the future
- Foster a strong sense of community between alumni and students
Program Expectations
- Mentees will initiate contact with their mentor and be proactive in maintaining the relationship and setting up meetings with the mentor.
- Mentors and mentees will meet at least 3 times during the academic year.
- Mentees will check in with Career Services at least once a semester to provide an update on their experience in the program.
- Students selected to participate in the Mentorship Program are required to attend a Mentorship Program Orientation Session to review program expectations and learn about how to best leverage the benefits of the program.
Applicant Eligibility
- Undergraduate and graduate students majoring/minoring in Human Resource Management and/or Labor and Employment Relations and graduating no earlier than May 2024 (full year program commitment required)
Application Process:
- Submit a completed application
- If selected for the program, attend one Mentorship Program Orientation Session.
- Once matched with a mentor, sign and submit SMLR Mentorship Agreement Form.
