Student Services Systems Analyst - Financial Aid
This full-time, 12-months per year Student Services Systems Analyst - Financial Aid position under general supervision, performs a variety of complex analytical and technical functions utilizing the District’s ERP System (Enterprise Planning System) to support Student Services programs and activities, which may include performing business systems analysis, systems administration, systems auditing and reporting, programming and script writing, user support and training and website design and maintenance; works closely with Information Technology staff on systems infrastructure, integration and core system programming issues; and performs related duties as assigned.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Starting Salary Range: $5,428 to $6,283 per month; plus 5% annual increases up to step 7, maximum initial salary step placement on the classified salary schedule is step 4. Full-time (40 hours per week) assignment, 12 months per year. Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with evenings and weekends as required.
Classified employees are required to join the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) and as such contribute 8% of their monthly salary to CalPERS on a pre-tax basis. Position scheduled to begin as soon as possible, pending continued categorical funding and Governing Board ratification. Salary is subject to proration based on the beginning date of assignment. Cabrillo is unable to sponsor work visas.

Twelve (12) days vacation leave accrued annually; rate increases up to a maximum of twenty (20) days at year ten (10)

- Meets with assigned directors and staff to address business issues and refine processes that improve workflow and maximize the use of available technologies; researches system capabilities based on user requests; designs new processes, data-collection methods and reporting formats; monitors the status of production environments; develops, modifies and maintains various online forms and report programs; devises data-verification methods and establishes controls and processes to monitor systems and data integrity; serves as a resource to department users for troubleshooting issues related to assigned systems and processes.
- Performs complex technical and specialized data collection and analysis functions; acts as systems administrator for assigned enterprise system modules and related applications; maintains and supports technical applications for users; troubleshoots network and software integration issues elevating more complex problems to appropriate IT staff.
- Using applicable tools, develops custom queries and reports to meet user and federal and state reporting requirements; incorporates new subsystems, provides for meeting new required reporting mandates and makes other application changes and updates; coordinates and participates in developing evaluation and test environments.
- Works with District IT staff to import and manage student data into assigned modules of the ERP system; analyzes ERP system and user data from various sub-systems for reporting purposes; coordinates with department users and IT staff to develop and maintain functional reporting tools; extracts and imports information from various databases to support reporting and auditing.
- Develops and provides user training on system utilization and capabilities; responds to faculty and student inquiries regarding technical issues.
- Leads or participates in projects related to areas of assigned responsibility.
- May build and maintain Student Services program websites working with the Web Systems Administrator to ensure usability guidelines and accessibility requirements are met.
- Maintains appropriate security of student information.
OTHER DUTIES
- Attends various meetings; participates on committees and task forces.
- Keeps abreast of technical knowledge related to assigned responsibilities through continuing education, reading or participating in professional conferences, workshops or groups.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation, of community college students, faculty and staff; AND
- Two (2) years of college-level coursework in computer science, information systems, business analysis, accounting or a closely related field; AND
- At least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis and system technical support related to admissions, records, curriculum, articulation or counseling in a college or university setting; OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
