Cultural Artifacts Student Assistant

The Office of Tribal Relations at CSU, Chico is working with Tribes to repatriate ancestors, cultural items, and related media. The Office of Tribal Relations seeks to hire 1-3 Student Assistants to help Chico State staff organize, rehouse and document Native American cultural resources to facilitate this process.  Additionally, Cultural Artifacts Student Assistants will help to catalog and care for a Native American education collection through community outreach, research, scanning of documentation and data entry. 
Pay rate $16.00

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimal job-related experience.
  • No previous experience required.
  • Entry-level.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Handling cultural resources including ancestral remains. burial items, as well as other culturally sensitive items and media.
  • Working in a team.
  • Working under observation of Tribal partners

Preferred

  • Experience handling cultural resources
  • Attention to detail
  • Exemplary organizational skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with Native communities.


The person holding this position may be considered a “mandated reporter” under the
California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the
requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.”
