Gap Year Intern Lead Role: As returning Gap Year Intern or as an AmeriCorps volunteer, you know the vital role you play as part the medical team. Serving in a leadership role provides the opportunity to expand your administrative skills and develop managerial experience to lead other gap year Interns. You will lead a Gap Year or volunteer family of up to 10 like-minded students who will, together, make a tangible impact in the lives of our low-income neighbors.
Time Commitment: Gap Year Intern/AmeriCorps lead positions are a one-year commitment, 20-25 hours a week for part-time AmeriCorps and 40 hours a week for full-time AmeriCorps. Need for full-time and/or part-time roles will fluctuate from year to year.

Details: IN ADDITION TO PERFORMING ALL OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF A GAP YEAR INTERN, THE GAP YEAR INTERN LEAD/AMERICORPS WILL ALSO:
· Works with staff to plan and direct:
o Gap Year Intern Orientation - May
o Lunch & Learns - monthly learning opportunities beginning in August
o FunDay activities – every other month starting in August
o Shadowing schedule – monthly
o Intern Celebration – April
o Gap Year Intern projects – as needed
· Oversees all training for new Gap Year Interns in their assigned area
· Serves as a communications liaison between staff and Gap Year Interns to share pertinent information both ways.
· Assists as needed with scheduling issues of Gap Year Interns within their assigned area
· Works creatively and collaboratively with GMH staff and volunteers to deliver services consistent with our mission, vision and values.
· Resolves conflicts productively and efficiently.
· Shows a strong attention to detail.
· Communicates effectively with supervisor regarding scheduling concerns/issues or for additional training needs.
· Performs all other duties as assigned.
Who Should Apply: Pre-med/health care focused individual or 2nd year Gap Year Intern who is interested in gaining more experience in leadership at a community-based clinic, has a heart to serve and a desire to work in a team-based environment.
