Overview
OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
Under minimal supervision, develops an Easterseals Southern California (ESSC) library. Creates and maintains an online database of library materials provided by the organization that includes books and scholarly research articles. Provides support for the successful utilization of said database. Establishes partnerships with one or more existing California library systems, such as the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium, California State Library, etc., and explores national resource-sharing opportunities, such as Docline, OCLC, etc

Starting Pay: $28 - $37 per hour
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
▪Creates and manages a database of library materials provided by the organization. Make sure all books, tapes, DVD's, etc. are cataloged and properly displayed.
▪Promotes and demonstrates the importance of the library media program in ESSC and publicizes available services and resources to the service lines.
▪Maintain a variety of resources for assigned projects via internal resources and website.
▪Enrolls the library within the California library system.
▪Performs document delivery and interlibrary loan functions.
▪Assists with trainings and prepares resources on how to utilize the database of library materials, library administration, library system organization, library establishment, and library funding.
▪Manages research assistants in library tasks (e.g., material or collection retrieval).
▪Maintains library records, tracking of overdue and lost books, creating accounts for researchers, and managing library access.
▪Process all new materials into the library.
▪Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
▪Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field. Master's degree, preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
▪1-2 years of professional experience (work toward degree included).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
▪Knowledge of relevant copyright laws for use and distribution of library materials.
▪Demonstrates proficiency in necessary programs for creation and maintenance of online databases, and Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
▪Attention to detail.
▪Excellent organizational skills.
▪Knowledge and/or experience with biomedical literature helpful.
▪Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and a TB test.
▪Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation per Easterseals of Southern California and/or program requirements.
