About the Office of Student Conduct and Care 

The Office of Student Conduct and Care (OSCC) is committed to facilitating student growth and development in civility and humanity. The OSCC serves the university community in a multitude of ways by supporting students who are referred for both conduct and care concerns. Our office serves to advocate for each student and acts as a conduit to campus and community resources by aiding students who encounter barriers that may limit their success. The OSCC promotes the academic, social, and mental well-being of students and provides supportive care, connections to campus and community resources, and aids in navigating the academic landscape. The office engages in both intervention and prevention through applying a comprehensive approach of informal and formal options to uphold campus standards of conduct, foster personal growth, and promote a peaceful learning environment. 

 

Job Description  

The OSCC student employee will serve as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately. Confidentiality will be a must when working in the OSCC. 

The ideal candidate will be available 11am-1pm Monday -Friday, some evenings, and some weekends to help with events. The student must also be work study eligible. 

Qualifications 

  • Must have a clean conduct record with the OSCC.
  • The position may require some bending, stretching, and pushing or lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • An ability to sit, walk, and stand up to 4 hours
  • An ability to use office equipment (fax, copier, etc.)
  • Excellent written communication skills, consistently using correct grammar
  • Excellent oral communication skills, comfortable engaging with the public over the phone and in person
  • Knowledgeable of social media best practices
  • Working knowledge of utilizing Facebook, Instagram, etc. for marketing purposes
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher
  • Working knowledge of design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks
  • Open to increasing current skillset
  • Strict commitment to confidentiality (confidentiality statement must be signed)
  • Professional behavior
  • minimum 2.25 GPA

Responsibilities 

  • Greet persons entering office, monitors visitor access, and maintain security awareness
  • Notifies office staff of visitor arrival and directs visitors to correct destination
  • Answer multi-line telephone: screens and directs calls
  • Takes written message and relays information to professional staff
  • Provides basic information to callers
  • Aids in monitoring staff availability
  • Provides general administrative and clerical support as needed by OSCC staff
  • Assist in development and management of social media content schedule for Facebook and Instagram, design video and still images to engage audience
  • Increase following and engagement on all social media platforms through strategic posts
  • Support staff in scheduling, planning and working outreach activities (e.g. tabling events, Care Team outreach events, SOAR, TOAR, and Preview Days.)
  • Ability to work independently within a defined set of guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned by professional staff
