Salary: $50,000-$60,000; commensurate with experience
Schedule: Monday - Friday, some on-call hours & weekends as needed

This role involves providing advocacy in-office in the field, assessing housing needs and working with the Suffolk County Anti-Human Trafficking Initiative (SCATI) Task Force, ensuring Suffolk County effectively responds to survivor needs.

Job Description:
The Anti-Human Trafficking Advocate will play a pivotal role in the development and expansion of our housing program, tailored for survivors of human trafficking; they will provide individual advocacy services both in-office and in the field. The advocate will collaborate with SCATI task force stakeholders, and law enforcement partners to ensure that survivors feel safe, and supported; the counselor will work closely with the housing department to ensure that the survivors housing needs are met holistically.
Responsibilities:
1. Assess housing needs for survivors of human trafficking:
- Conduct housing assessments both in-office and in the field.
- Mediate between landlord and survivors for housing needs
- Support survivors in understanding their rights as tenants to ensure fair housing treatment.
- Identifying and eliminating potential housing barriers related to criminal records and credit repair.
- Financial support to educate on budgeting and savings.
2. Provide Individual Advocacy Services :
- Offer one-on-one advocacy and case management to survivors of human trafficking.
- Holistically address survivors' needs in-house and in the field.
3. Collaborate with Law Enforcement:
- Respond to anti-human trafficking law enforcement partners promptly.
- Ensure survivors' safety and support in coordination with law enforcement efforts.
- Facilitate avenues for survivors to pursue justice against perpetrators, respecting survivors' choices.
Qualifications:
1. Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work, or related field or
- Proven experience in providing advocacy services to survivors of trauma or human trafficking.
2. Bilingual, Spanish and English proficiency preferred.
3. Trauma-Informed and Human-Centered Approaches:
- Strong understanding and application of trauma-informed and human-centered counseling practices.
4. Crisis Response and Emergency Services:
- Experience in crisis management and emergency response services.
5. Collaboration and Advocacy:
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with law enforcement and anti-human trafficking advocates.
- Passion for holistic support and advocacy for survivors.
6. Flexibility and Adaptability:
- Ability to manage crises both in-office and in the field.
- Adaptability to respond to the dynamic needs of survivors and law enforcement partners.
7. Passion for Social Justice:
- Commitment to social justice, advocacy, and making a positive impact in the community.
