Solar Energy Support Specialist

Join the City of Phoenix Office of Sustainability to support the adoption of solar energy in low-income households and increase community resilience! This role will have 2 main focus areas: to support the increase in the number of solar projects in city facilities in underserved communities; and support the adoption of solar energy in low-income households. You will do this by researching effective strategies, building peer to peer programing, and developing various outreach materials among other activities. You should be a self-starter with passion for new ideas but also able to successfully operate within the slower pace of government without getting discouraged. Ideal candidates should have a background in sustainability, environment, urban planning, or community engagement, but diverse backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to apply. A knowledge of low income Phoenix communities and/or Spanish is helpful but not required. ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: $100 per/Qt grocery card

This is a National Service position as a part of AmeriCorps VISTA program. Members who move over 50 miles qualify for a relocation allowance as well as a settling in allowance. All of our VISTA's receive a modest taxable living allowance of about $1,700/month (before taxes), federal loans qualify for forbearance. After the completion of one's year of service, they also qualify for an educational award valued at about $7,300, which can be used towards federal loans, or further education.
