Animated Video Intern

As part of the Public Utilities team, your primary project will be an animated video to showcase Bee Ridge Water Reclamation Facility Expansion & Conversion project, currently under construction.

Your internship will include impactful hands-on work within a department, networking, professional development, and building long lasting connections with other interns, mentors, and Sarasota County team members.
Department Responsibilities:
- Storyboard and create a 15–20-minute video showcasing the largest project (250M+) the county has ever embarked upon. The treatment facility will be the newest/largest Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment plant in Florida. The MBR treatment system is a newer technology which provides drinking water quality effluent after treatment. The project has many interested and connected parties that will be part of the eventual groundbreaking ceremony in late 2025, some of those are the Director, United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), State officials, other local municipality dignitaries and of course our engineers, contractors, and county staff.
- The video is for our guests and visitors that will be touring the plant, not only during the ceremony, but for years afterwards in the new visitor’s center and County website.
- Other creative projects, educational pieces, recruitment advertising and more to support Public Utilities, as time permits.
Internship Program Responsibilities:
- A presentation to the County Administrator and other County Leadership staff is required at the close of the internship program.

About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 18 years old, or age 16 with parental consent.
- High school diploma, or equivalent (if applicable).
- Eligible to work in the United States – we love local, national, and international students!
- Active student, or graduated August 2023 or later.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates currently working toward a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or closely related field.
About Everything Else
- Program Dates: The 2024 internship program will begin on May 20, 2024 and end on August 9, 2024.
- Internship Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; some departments vary.
- Pay Range: $13 per hour (high school student) up to $20 per hour (Grad/Masters student), based on your credit hours earned.
