Early Childhood Education Teaching Assistants provide support and assistance to the Lead Teachers of the UW-Whitewater Children's Center providing care for children ages infants, toddlers, preschool, and 4K in a child-initiated learning environment. This includes providing general supervision and management for a classroom of children. ECE assistants provide overall care and maintain the safety and physical well-being of children at all times. ECE assistants engage in collaborative partnership building with children, staff, and families to identify goals, strengths, necessary services, and other support. Other job duties include maintaining a clean and safe classroom environment, documenting information about children's routines and activities, and communicating with families.
ECE Assistants need to commit to work 2-5 days per week and between 10-25 hours per week. During the summer months ECE Assistants can work up to 40 hours per week. Children's Center hours of operation are 7:30am-5:30pm. Schedules can be flexible. No experience required. Training and orientation will be provided.
