Position title:  Computer Specialist

Division:              Computer Operations

Shift:                    8 hours M-F; Overtime – Occasionally; On-call once every 6 weeks; required to work during emergencies and natural disasters

 

Job Summary:

Participates in the installation, maintenance, monitoring, and administration of the hardware and software components of (LAN/WAN/Enterprise) system support.

 

Job Duties:

  • Performs Help Desk duties including maintenance activities, equipment inventory, trouble reports and calls to vendors
  • Assists in identifying, researching and resolving system software, database, hardware and/or network problems
  • Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots computer and server equipment.
  • Installs, maintains, diagnoses and repairs network, and phone line problems.
  • Assists in assessing and preparing facilities for installation of network components, including the assembly of cable and connectors to meet the specifications of vendor interfaces and configuration of hardware to ensure compatibility with network configuration.
  • Setup and troubleshoot Android, Apple OS mobile devices
  • Maintains, and troubleshoots problems with in-car camera systems and mobile broadband devices.
  • Manages user permissions.
  • Research and planning of new technology or upgrades.
  • Tests new software
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies. Insuring all computer assets are properly asset tagged for compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned both in office and on site.

Qualifications: 

  • A baccalaureate degree or associates degree in a Computer/Information Technology related field plus one year of professional level experience in information technology; or 3 years of experience and/or training in information technology/computer networking
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, SQL and/or SharePoint
  • Knowledge of various Windows operating systems.  Knowledge of Mac OS a plus.
  • Ability to resolve issues with both Android and iOS mobile operating systems.
  • Must be a self-starter, organized, detailed oriented, and able to complete task independently with little guidance.
  • Must be able to respond to callouts for routine as well as emergency situations and natural disasters.
  • Must be able to lift equipment and supplies up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder up to 12 feet.
  • Must be capable of working on the ground, in ceiling, vehicles, or non-office space locations in odd positions to install/troubleshoot cabling or equipment.
  • Must be able to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently. Must have the ability to manage several projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
