(1493) TCOOMMI Mental Health Diversion Coordinator
The Texas Correctional Office on Offenders with Medical or Mental Impairments (TCOOMMI) Mental Health (MH) Diversion Coordinator is responsible for coordinating appropriate mental health services for individuals who are diagnosed with mental health disorders and/or intellectual developmental disabilities and incarcerated in Burnet County Jail.
The MH Diversion Coordinator will work with legal personnel to facilitate jail diversion for appropriate individuals primarily in Burnet County; however, may provide jail diversion and assessment services in other Bluebonnet Trails Counties when needed.
This position requires the development and maintenance of effective, professional working relationships with the Georgetown District Adult Parole Officer, Burnet County Community Supervision and Corrections Department as well as local judges, jail staff and attorneys. This position also requires the ability to effectively communicate and coordinate services with community mental health providers across the state, as well as local substance use treatment facilities and non-Bluebonnet Trails community resource providers.
This is a non-exempt position that primarily works Monday through Friday; however, participation in a rotating on-call schedule to include some holidays, nights, and weekends is expected. The working location will primarily be in the jail, courts, Bluebonnet clinic, and community.
A prominent level of detailed electronic documentation is required and adherence to company and state guidelines is expected. Completion of behavioral health assessments and assisting eligible individuals with referrals to additional services using clinical judgment with state guidelines. The person in this position will also gain an understanding of the TCOOMMI Program Guidelines and Procedures (PGP’s) to determine eligibility for TCOOMMI services upon release.
The person in this position must possess a passion and aptitude for working with individuals who have chronic and severe behavioral health needs and are involved in the criminal justice system. The person in this position will effectively work independently and on a team, prioritize needs during crisis situations, engage in regular meetings and training opportunities, balance self-care, be a delight to work with, and perform other duties as assigned with a positive attitude.

Salary: $21.46 - $28.21/hr

$1.00/hour – 1 year with BTCS
$1.00/hour – 2 years with BTCS
$1.00/hour – 4 years with BTCS
$1.00/hour – 6 years with BTCS
$1.00/hour – Advanced Licensure $.75/hour – Bilingual

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, management, business, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, or early childhood education/intervention. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License, meet Bluebonnet Trails Community Services driving requirements, and maintain approved driving status throughout employment.
*If a degree is not in a Human Services field, a minimum of 24 college credits in a Human Services are required. NCIC and TCIC criminal background checks, substance use screening, and fingerprinting are performed prior to employment. An official copy of the college transcript is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience working in TCOOMMI, behavioral health, criminal justice, and/or case management; advanced degree in Human Services field; QMHP certification; Licensed Practitioner (LCDC, LCSW, LMFT, LPC); Bilingual (English/Spanish).
