Quality Control Laboratory Technician

3RD SHIFT - QUALITY CONTROL LAB TECHNICIAN

Summary/Objective 

Perform routine physical and mechanical testing on plastic specimens and samples. Prepare plastic specimens by using the injection molding machine or other appropriate techniques.

Essential Functions

Daily Duties

  • Perform routine testing by following prescribed written procedures and techniques.
  • Report test results on appropriate forms and other required documentation.
  • Maintain testing logs.
  • Prepare samples for testing as described in testing procedures.
  • Prepare test specimens by operating the injection-molding machines as described in the written operating manual.
  • Operate equipment safely and observe all safety precautions.
  • Keep equipment and work areas clean and well maintained.
  • Troubleshoot and report any testing equipment issue
  • Check the testing equipment for accuracy and effectiveness, and report your observations.
  • Inform R&D for any nonconforming issues
    • Assist in maintaining the return sample system.

Periodic Duties

  • Prepare laboratory blends as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Keep supervisory personnel advised of problems and/or equipment failures.

  • Requires ability to read and write.
  • Requires ability to perform mathematical calculations using a calculator and perform basic mathematical calculations such as average, standard deviation and fractions.
  • Requires good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires legible handwriting.
  • Must be dependable, detail-oriented, thorough and well organized.
  • Must be able to work well unsupervised, as well as, a team member.
  • Follow written testing procedures and methods. Perform testing accurately and consistently.
  • Work with Quality in mind.
  • Understand test procedures sufficiently to overcome abnormal conditions.
  • Understand equipment sufficiently to identify and trouble-shoot minor malfunctions
  • Understand laboratory systems and procedures in order to maintain efficient lab operation.
  • Clear understanding of product line and nomenclature.
  • Ability to perform all test procedures and sample preparations procedures in the lab or be in active training to achieve that objective.
  • Operate safely, without personal injury, or damage to laboratory equipment.
  • Comply with all RADICI policies and procedures.
  • Perform job duties as a positive representative of Radici’s overall QUALITY, VALUE, and SERVICE objectives.

Work Environment

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time – helpful.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally.

Classification
Full-time – hourly – non-exempt

Required/ Preferred Education and Experience

Requires completion of at least a high school diploma or GED. Two years of college education or four years of experience in QC/QA and/or R&D laboratory preferred, but not required.
