Waste Prevention and Reduction Specialist - City of Vancouver

This is an AmeriCorps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. To serve in AmeriCorps you must be a U.S. citizenU.S. national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States. Please do not inquire if you do not meet these requirements.

The Waste Prevention and Reduction Specialist will support the City of Vancouver’s work to decrease waste and improve community recycling. Duties include:

  • Coordinate and deliver trainings on how to proper recycling and reducing food waste.
  • Table community events and meetings to engage diverse members of our community.
  • Train and support community litter volunteers.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to expand litter removal.
  • Track volunteer data.
  • Assist with outreach that connects litter removal with climate change.

Monthly stipend: $2,995

About Us

Vancouver combines the excitement of a major metropolitan area with small-town charm. We are a fast-growing and increasingly diverse community in southwest Washington. The member will serve as a member of the Solid Waste team. They will partner with internal and external groups to promote recycling and reduce litter. The member will also help grow the Litter Stewards program and support volunteer engagement. We expect to begin reviewing applications and interviewing on a rolling basis in June.
