Social Media Content Creator and Brand Ambassador

Position Description: University Relations social media manager and brand ambassador Student Employee
UW-Parkside’s Office of University Relations seeks a highly motivated student employee to assist in telling UW-Parkside’s story.
University Relations is responsible for telling the UW-Parkside story through the offices of university marketing, communications, and creative services. The Student Communications Assistant will report to the Communications Manager.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented individual who possesses strong organization, communication skills, and social media literacy. This individual should also be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and willing to lend a hand on projects big and small. The ability to multitask and work toward both short-term and long-term deadlines is a must.
Through this position, you will gain professional experience working in a nonprofit setting, sharpen your communication, writing and research skills, and contribute in important ways to the mission of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
This position requires up to 20 hours per week during the summer and during the school year. Our general business hours are 8 am to 5 pm.
Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with team members to develop copy, including but not limited to traditional media (print) and interactive digital media (email, social media).
· Research and understand target audiences, including motivators, to create the appropriate style, tone, and voice.
· Maintain social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok and Instagram.
· Assist Communications team with scheduling interviews, capturing stories and organizing content.
· Participate in the development of the social media marketing plan.
· Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
Strong writing skills; Strong organizational skills; Familiarity with social media & email platforms; Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; Video editing skills needed; Basic problem-solving skills; Willingness to learn new skills; willingness to work off hours (including weekends as needed)
