EOHS Student Assistant
EOHS Student Assistants are responsible for performing the following duties on a monthly basis:
Visually inspect and scan portable fire extinguishers located in campus buildings. There will also be times when you will be tasked with replacing expired or discharged extinguishers with new ones.
Must be able to lift a ten-pound fire extinguisher without any issues.
Inspect Automatic External Defibulators AED"s that are located in campus buildings. You will also be tasked with replacing outdated pads and batteries when needed.
Test and inspect eyewash and safety showers that are located in science buildings on campus.
Testing of emergency phones located throughout campus.
Assist EOHS staff with holding fire and tornado drills in campus buildings.
Answer the main office phone when needed
Perform general housing keeping duties like take out trash or vacuum the floor when needed.
You should be proficient in Microsoft office suite.
You should have a valid divers license and a clean driving record.
You must be able to pass a background check to in order to work in UA Residence Halls.
You must be physically able to climb ladders to access fire extinguishers in mechanical spaces. that are not accessible by other means.
All University of Akron student employees must meet the designated minimum standards as stated on the Student Employment Eligibility Chart. UA student employees must be 18 years or older at the time of their start date. Any approved remote work conducted by student employees MUST be performed within the state of Ohio.
