CAD Engineer

The CAD Engineer develops detailed design and specifications in 3D modeling and 2D layouts for new and existing HVAC products by using Computer Assisted Design (CAD) software. Ensures the fit by performing tolerance stack-up and assists project and sustaining Engineers to release Engineering changes. May assist with assembly and tests of Engineering prototypes to understand design changes, based upon the outcome. Communicates with manufacturing to ensure the form of design. Ensures work is aligned with the business unit’s objectives and strategies.

Position Responsibilities may include:

  • Concept designs
  • CAD modeling 3D and 2D Layouts by using Creo or Solid Edge
  • Capability of Design for Manufacturability
  • Ensure Fit and Form of new and existing design
  • New and existing product design for HVAC products
  • Support Engineering change from BOM and drawings standpoint
  • Attention to details while creating new designs and working with Bill of materials
  • Tolerance Stack up analysis
  • Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems
  • Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment
  • Manage the resolution of CAD related issues and tasks
  • Revise, edit, and update changes to drawings based on revised sketches, notes, drawings, and verbal instruction
  • Troubleshoot/problem solve on constructability/design issues
  • Participate in additional projects to support ongoing business needs

Nature and Scope

Knowledge and Skills

  • Broad product design engineering knowledge
  • Proficiency in Creo and up (Pro-sheet metal, Pro-piping and Solid modeling)
  • Proficiency in Solid edge and up (sheet metal, xpress route and Solid modeling)
  • Experience with HVAC or refrigeration
  • Experience in product design and engineering change process
  • Experience in manufacturing and fabrication methods
  • Experience with Bill of Material structures
  • Good mechanical design and hands-on background
  • Fluent in dimensioning and tolerance stack up analysis
  • Capable of designing mechanical system with help from design engineers
  • Experience in CETOL (tolerance stack-up application) preferred
  • Computer skills (MS Office, E-Mail and Internet)
  • High level of attention to detail and problem solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills including questioning, listening, and observe objectively and insightfully
  • Organizational, time management and coordination skills - prioritization and follow up with others to meet objectives
  • Interpersonal skills to coordinate/collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Learn and apply new technology as needed
  • Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job

Experience

  • 1+ years with designing in Creo, Solid Edge, etc. 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in CAD or Mechanical Design Engineering
