Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position requires various duties, including answering student, faculty and parent questions, filing, answering telephones, and other duties as assigned. Some responsibilities include creating connections between student organizations on campus, supporting the utilization of Detroit Mercy Live, and creating communications, newsletters, and other initiatives to amplify the work of organizations on campus. Organization assistants support the Student Life Office, reporting to the assistant director of SLO. The positions are located in the Student Life Office.
Student Organization Assistant:
Responsible for enhancing the connection between Registered Student Organizations and Student Life. This position will involve working closely with all Registered Student Organizations to learn their needs and support, amplify, promote, and recognize their work on campus.
- Create connections with Student Organizations on campus.
- Support organizations in the utilization of Detroit Mercy Live.
- Learn the needs and goals of Student Organizations and help connect them to the Student Life Office and appropriate resources.
- Create communications, newsletters, or other initiatives to amplify the work of organizations on campus.
- Support the Student Life Office in game rentals and general student support.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Enrolled at the University of Detroit Mercy, eligible for Work Study.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Recommended communication skills, and ability to practice and learn new leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Involved in student organizations and/or Greek Life
Physical Requirements:
- May need to lift/move items for programs up to 10-15 lbs.
Anticipated Schedule:
- Dependent on student class schedule
