Program Description: 
Mount Blue Sky Crew Member- The Mount crew member is working within the Mount Blue Sky fee area with Forest Service staff.  This position performs daily operation and maintenance tasks at the three sites on Mount Blue Sky, meets and greets visitors with area information and education on rules and regulations and works with FS staff and volunteers on assigned tasks.

The three developed site locations are Mt. Goliath Nature Center, Summit Lake Park and the Summit of Mount Blue Sky.  At each location, the crew member will talk to visitors, answer questions, assist visitor if they need additional services, pick up trash, remove trash bags from cans, and clean the restrooms. 

In addition, the crew member is an ambassador for the Forest Service acting as an informational and educational contact for forest visitors.  Communication and disseminating area rules and regulations is an important duty with the position.
Other opportunities may include staffing the welcome station to provide visitor information/education, check in and sell timed entry reservations.

Housing is provided in an on-site bunkhouse with kitchen, bathroom facilities, and a washer and dryer.

  • Government housing is provided at the Forest Service workcenter in Idaho Springs, CO. One bunkhouse has capacity for 6 employees, two people per room, 2 restrooms with showers, a shared living room and kitchen with a washer and dryer. The second bunkhouse is smaller for 3-4 employees, 1 restroom/shower, kitchen and washer and dryer. Each bunkhouse has cooking pots/pans and kitchen utensils. Individual will have to bring there own bedding.
  • Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority
