Parks Maintenance Worker - Carter Lake District

Overview

We are looking for a Temporary Parks Worker to join our team!

Natural Resources manages Larimer County's great outdoor places, including open spaces and magnificent water-based recreation areas, and fosters responsible land stewardship through weed management and healthy forest practices.

Our mission is to establish, protect, and manage significant regional parks and open lands providing quality outdoor recreational opportunities and stewardship of natural resource values. We are committed to fostering a sense of community and appreciation for the natural and agricultural heritage of Larimer County for present and future generations.

This is a temporary position that may last up to 10 months . This position may work weekends.

Responsibilities

Specifically, this position:

  • Operates electrical and gas-powered tools.
  • Assists in performing plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and masonry.
  • Works with heavy equipment operators.
  • Operates a variety of heavy equipment, including tractors, bobcats, and backhoes, skid-steer, and truck & trailer.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for the performance of the job.

We are looking for a candidate that will:

  • Stand and walk for long periods of time and walk long distances over rough terrain.
  • Push, pull, and lift heavy objects.
  • Operate mowers and string trimmers.
  • Use and maintain groundskeeping equipment, mowers, and string trimmers.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Greet a very wide variety of park visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and helpful manner, and communicate effectively with a wide diversity of individuals and groups.
  • Use and maintain groundskeeping equipment, mowers, and string trimmers.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other county employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.

 

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's license by date of hire required.

Supplemental Information

An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of required pre-employment testing.
