Since our founding in 2001, Rescue has been exclusively focused on researching, developing, and implementing positive social change campaigns in public health. We provide research, strategy, creative, production, web, traditional media, social media, policy change, youth engagement and experiential marketing services to government, non-profit, and healthcare clients in over 35 states and provinces, as well as to federal government agencies.

Rescue’s health behavior change marketing campaigns focus on topics such as tobacco, obesity, substance and alcohol prevention; the promotion of exercise, eating healthy foods, early childhood development, and after school programs; and other topics that promote healthy living. Rescue’s behavior change campaigns focus on diverse populations within teen (13 - 17), young adult (18 - 26), and adult (18+) populations in both rural and urban areas, resulting in a wide variety of campaign styles and strategies.

The Job
Rescue’s Research department conducts online evaluation studies to measure the performance of Rescue’s diverse campaigns for youth and adult populations. We are looking for a dynamic, high performing Research Intern I to primarily support Rescue’s Research Evaluation team with project management, data collection, and reporting tasks. The ideal candidate has experience in completing detail oriented tasks in a deadline driven environment and a background or interest in health, public health research and communications. The Research Intern I will be expected to work 16 to 25 hours per week, with the schedule to be determined upon hire.

Day-To-Day Activities: 

  • Assist with data collection logistics, conduct data entry/cleaning and compile large databases of information;
  • Assist with report drafting and formatting;
  • Assist with recruitment vendor communications, including reaching out to recruitment vendors to inquire about recruitment feasibility and costs, providing recruitment updates to vendors, and drafting subcontractor agreements;
  • Assist with qualitative and quantitative data analysis, as needed;
  • Assist with research instrument and IRB package development as needed;
  • Assist with secondary research and literature reviews as needed;
  • Assist with project implementation tasks, including note-taking, quote-pulling, and supporting project debriefs, as needed; and
  • Comfortable working on sensitive research topics; these may include projects with a focus on individuals who are susceptible to or have experience using substances, individuals who have experienced adverse childhood experiences, as well as individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks or projects at once;
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing;
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and effectively in teams;
  • Comfortable working and interacting with people of all backgrounds and ages;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Google Slides;
  • Background or interest in health, research, and communications;
  • Completion of some college courses in public health, statistics, sociology, psychology, communication or other social sciences; and/or
  • Non-tobacco use is highly preferred because we only have tobacco-free environments and also to be consistent with our tobacco prevention campaign goals.

The Fine Print
Environment:
All business-related environments are tobacco-free. 

Physical Requirements:
Able to remain in a sitting position for prolonged periods of time for the performance of duties. Able to read from a computer, laptop monitor, or tablet for a full workday and for long periods of time (typically 8 hours) including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources. If working from a Rescue office location, able to stoop, bend, reach, climb stairs, and move freely throughout the building. Able to travel nationwide as needed to meet with clients, coworkers, or attend meetings and seminars. Must be able to move boxed work documents, up to 40 pounds, in and out of office for travel by car and by air.
