Job Description
The Roberts lab in the Agricultural Biology department invites student applicants to an hourly STAFF SUPPORT position commencing immediately until the end of the summer term. One opening is currently available. Hours vary but are approximately 10 hours/week at $15/hour. Work Study students are encouraged to apply. We are seeking a self‐motivated, multi‐tasking, organized, professional student employee capable of following instructions and completing tasks on time. The hired employee may work 10-15 hrs/week at $15/hr.
In most cases the position starts as soon as possible upon acceptance of the contract and continues through the spring semester. Student Employee Benefit Information can be found on HR's Website.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
The position is expected to assist laboratory staff with a variety of support tasks. Duties of this position may include, but are not limited to:
· Assisting with greenhouse management and plant care, including but not limited to sowing, transplanting, and watering
· Assisting with basic microbiology and molecular techniques, including but not limited to bacterial isolation, inoculum preparation, plate counting, cloning and PCR.
· Preparing solutions, buffers, and media
· Washing dishes and autoclaving/sterilizing lab materials
· Routine office functions, such as organizing or filing materials;
· Running errands on campus to support the work of the unit;
· Other tasks as needed that do not involve access to protected student or staff information
Required skills
· Work independently and efficiently; use available lab resources to plan tasks.
· Follow written and verbal instructions
Preferred skills
· Ability to prepare solutions, buffers, and media (for example, previous experience in a high school or college chemistry/microbiology or related lab)
· Ability to sow, transplant, and water plants for research (for example, experience growing and caring for plants in a greenhouse or home setting)
