Employment Connections Student Employee - Summer/Fall 2024 - Regular Pay ONLY

This position will start in Summer 2024 and the hired student will continue through the school year.

Brief Description

This position consists of providing career counseling and supportive assistance for students and Division of Vocational Rehabilitation consumers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn and gain a full understanding of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and other state agencies that provide services for individuals with disabilities
  • Meet with students/consumers to discuss employment expectations, concerns, accommodation needs
  • Work collaboratively and develop relationships with Career Services and other departments/agencies on and off campus
  • Assist consumers with application completion and resume/cover letter development
  • Assist students/consumers with interview preparation and professional etiquette
  • Contact potential employers for job shadows, internships, work experiences and employment
  • Initiate/maintain relationships with potential employers
  • Review consumer documentation, case note, and complete monthly reports
  • Recruit and encourage students to participate in Career & Leadership activities, Workforce Recruitment Program, workshops, and career-related activities
  • Create and facilitate various workshops related to employment and disability
  • Knowledge of the American with Disabilities Act and accommodations
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Valid Regular (not probationary) Driver’s License for two at least years and/or reliable transportation
  • Must be able to complete/have a valid UW-W driver’s authorization
  • Travel off campus and outside of Whitewater is required

Timeline

  • Preference for Junior standing or higher and the ability to work over the summer(s).
