Regulatory and Compliance Engineer I

The Regulatory and Compliance Engineer I will work in the Engineering & Technology Assessment Division in the Mobile Sources Control Program. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for performing highly technical cand complex emissions modeling, using the Environmental Protection Agency’s MOVES model to develop statewide highway emissions inventories, State Implementation Plans, Rate of Progress Plans, and Transportation Conformity analyses. This position will also be responsible for coordinating modeling activities with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and local Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) as well as regional modeling activities conducted by the Ozone Transport Commission (OTC) and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Air Management Agency (MARAMA).

The incumbent in this position may be required to drive a State vehicle.  If you maintain an out-of-state driving license, you must provide a certified copy of your driving record from the appropriate Motor Vehicle Administration at the time of appointment. Individuals must maintain a driver's license with no more than 5 points on their driving record in order to drive a State vehicle.

Education:   A Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university.

Experience: None.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with at least 20 credit hours in engineering and two years performing engineering or architectural work in pollution control, waste remediation, resource conservation, environmental protection, public health and safety, or related areas may be substituted for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a current Professional Engineer or Professional Architect registration in the State of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements for the required education.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Engineering and Architecture classifications or Engineering and Architecture specialty codes in the Environmental field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
