Industrial Engineer

Job Summary

The Industrial Engineer will have a “process improvement and ownership attitude” to provide process leadership and support of overall plant objectives. This individual will have input in numerous areas of the business including sourcing, planning, buying, and material flow of raw materials and finished goods.

  1. Recommendations, support, and implementation of plans for improved safety, quality, delivery and cost of material flow.
  2. Improve material flow processes by utilizing improvement tools and methodologies.
  3. Develop best practices for material flow and collaborate cross-functionally to facilitate seamless transition from design through fully implemented warehousing.
  4. Serves as a change agent to challenge current processes. Collect and use data to propose changes and support improvement opportunities.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Support the ongoing development of plant wide culture of continuous improvement, safe working environment, and open dialogue.
  • Foster an environment that aligns with Sportech’s Core Beliefs and Values and builds upon a culture that is in service to our people and community.
  • Productivity tracking and review of current material flow processes for improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate on new product material flow requirements. Ensure timelines to support new product launches and production capacity expansions.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and apply new and emerging technologies as appropriate to meeting company VTO and capacity expansions.
  • Develop business case (ROI) for capital projects.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on process improvements, new procedures, and best practices.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by implementing Lean principles, methodologies, and tools such as Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, Spaghetti diagrams, 5S, and Kaizen events.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Production, and Warehouse teams to create standards for how components are delivered and stored (PFEP).
  • Contribute to the definition, development, and implementation of LEAN warehousing initiatives.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of 3PL.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (equivalent work experience may be considered).
  • 3-5 years material flow and continuous improvement experience required.
  • Must have knowledge of material flow processes, technologies, and lean material flow principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement change in a way that positively impacts overall department and company performance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must excel at working in a team environment with a high level of people/interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to cross functionally drive results.
