SUMMER AVAILABILITY 

Position Overview

Assist the Marketing Manager with the creation and design of marketing materials for all areas of NMU Dining Services. 

Typical work week: 
Academic Year: Shifts are between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm. Occasional evenings and weekend shifts. 
Summer: Shifts are between the hours of 730 am and 4 pm. Occasional evenings and weekend shifts. S 

Position Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a registered student attending NMU (minimum credits 6 hours in Fall and Winter Semesters)
  • Knowledge of and ability to use a computer
  • Ability to produce creative materials in the Adobe Suite (specifically Illustrator and Photoshop)
  • Coursework and/or experience with graphic design
  • Proficient in Google Suite

Additional Desirable Qualifications

  • Willingness to improve skills
  • Interest in food, beverage, catering, and events
  • Illustration / Photography experience
  • Experience with web design / HTML
  • Experience designing with Canva
  • Familiar with Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram, and creating videos/content for social media

Position Responsibilities

  • Design and create marketing, collateral, and other informational materials for special events, holidays, and retail outlets
  • Design and revise menus, signage, web/TV graphics, and social media posts for all facets of Dining Services
  • Brainstorm, plan, design and implement events (such as special food-focused events) for Dining Services
  • Print, cut, fold, and laminate various marketing materials
  • Assist in developing social media content (posts, photos, videos) as well as hanging flyers and posters.

Supervision Received

Receives routine supervision from the Marketing Manager. The Marketing Assistant may also be required to work with and report to, with the Marketing Manager's approval and knowledge, any one of the members of the Dining Services management team as projects develop.
