Construction Material Testing Technician
Founded in 1958, Ackenheil Engineers, Inc. is a Pittsburgh, PA based consulting engineering firm providing services in geotechnical and civil engineering; construction inspection; and field and laboratory testing of soil, rock, concrete, and asphalt.
Ackenheil is seeking Construction Material Testing Technicians. Ideal candidates will have an interest in building a career in the construction observation and/or geotechnical consulting fields.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform field and/or laboratory testing of construction materials (soil, concrete, and asphalt).
- Interpret and follow applicable specifications and standards.
- Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
- Prepare and submit field and/or laboratory testing reports, both written and digital form, with daily transmittal to the Ackenheil Project Manager.
- Regularly communicate with Ackenheil Staff, Clients, and Contractors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Ability to interpret project plans and specifications
- Ability to write accurate and concise field reports
- Computer skills for typing field and laboratory reports
- Must have valid driver’s license &reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursement) for use on job sites
- Physical ability to perform field and laboratory testing (frequently lift up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed with additional compensation
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather in a busy construction environment
- Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner
- ACI Concrete Field and Nuclear Gauge Safety (US DOT Hazmat) certifications preferred, but not required
