Graduate Admissions Graduate Assistant

 

The Graduate Assistant will support the Office of Graduate Admissions staff in their efforts to recruit new students. The GA will be responsible for engaging with the prospective students to complete their applications, assist them with campus visits, and increasing awareness of KU's graduate programs. 

- Recruitment: The assistant will participate in on-campus, off-campus and virtual graduate fairs throughout the academic year. In addition, they will advise on the application procedures. 

- Social Media: The assistant will be responsible for scheduling content on the Graduate Admissions social media pages. This will include content creation by way of Adobe, Canva, or other products. 

- Processing: The assistant will participate in processing application materials and will use the Customer Relationship Management product called Slate to enter and upload materials, communicate with applicants, process inquiries, and other tasks.

Ability to work with a team is necessary and candidates should possess qualities such as: 

  • Self-starter and finisher
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Desire to have fun and make a difference

 

Educational benefit:

 

The student will be working within Slate, the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, which teaches them skills that are transferable across many career paths. Within Slate, hey will be performing all electronic communications, adding information to files, and evaluating conversion rates. The student will be coordinating social media posts and campaigns to promote our current students’ achievements, advertise recruitment events, and post general information which teaches them leadership skills, communications, and fosters creativity. The student will help prospective applicants to navigate the application (assemble materials and follow timelines), schedule campus tours, and lend their perspective to incoming students. These assignments help to develop the student’s written and oral communications.  

 

Importance of position to university operations:

 

The duties of the proposed graduate assistantship will contribute to the enrollment growth of the institution in a thoughtful and informed manner. Their actions will provide transparency to the graduate programs we offer and how they’re administered. 

 

This position is for 20 hours/week of work (300 hours for the spring semester), and it provides a tuition waiver for 9 graduate credits plus a stipend of $3,750 per semester.  Please contact Kittie Pain for additional information if needed at kpain@kutztown.edu.
